YOUNG LIVING MEMBER #1082737
In 2007, I married my sweetheart, Jared, one of my law school classmates. I began practicing law in the area of personal injury and workers’ compensation. My work as a personal injury lawyer allowed me to study the human body, which has always interested me. In fact, I claim one physician, one pharmacist, and one medical student in my immediate family.I grew up in South Carolina with my three sisters and one brother, and wonderful parents who instilled in each of us an appreciation for the outdoors and all things natural. We traveled, camped, fished and hiked as a family. My parents facilitated opportunities for me to play soccer internationally in Central America and South Africa before graduating from high school. Upon graduation, I attended King College in Bristol, Tennessee, played soccer, camped and hiked every trail along the Holston Mountain Range and completed one-seventh of the Appalachian Trail from Springer Mountain, Georgia to Damascus, Virginia. I graduated from King with History and Business degrees, and moved back home to South Carolina where I began law school at the University of South Carolina Law School. During law school, I attended a Transnational Dispute Resolution course in London, and routinely competed in triathlons including the Duke Half Ironman in 2006.
By 2015, Jared and I were both continuing to practice law full time, and enjoy our four beautiful children. However, things were about to change drastically for us.
Jared has always struggled with his joints, and in 2015, his orthopaedist recommended a high tibial osteotomy in lieu of a total knee replacement. On May 5, 2015, Jared went in for his procedure. His recovery was difficult from the beginning. After repeatedly returning to his orthopaedist to report ongoing problems, we came to learn that he had developed osteomyelitis. He underwent four additional procedures: a hardware removal and three irrigation and debridements. He was administered heavy doses of Vancomycin through a PICC for 4.5 hours a day for a period of weeks, until we found his bone marrow was shutting down because of a reaction to the Vanc. His antibiotics were changed four more times, before Jared finally requested to be released from the hospital. Once released, I feared I had no way of taking care of him at home.
A lovely neighbor began to share her oils with me, and it was not long before we as a family were overwhelmingly intrigued by the benefits the oils were providing. It was then that I decided I would begin a slow retirement from law to make myself more available to my family and to learn everything I could about essential oils. After countless hours of research and searching for the most pure oils, I joined Young Living in December of 2016, and have dedicated myself to bringing these amazing oils and this amazing company into every single home. I look forward to welcoming you into the Young Living Family! You will never look back!
